Step-by-Step Guide to Achieve Google Adwords Certificate
A Google AdWords contextual advertising specialist certificate is useful if you provide services for creating and maintaining advertising campaigns in this system. This is also the first step to getting a Google partner badge for your agency. How to get this certificate? Let’s figure it out.
- Google Partners Profile
- Exam preparation
I recently received a certificate from a Google AdWords search advertising specialist. I brag about:
To get it, I had to pass two exams: the basics of AdWords and the basics of search advertising.
Google Partners profile
The first thing you need to create a profile in Google Partners. It is there that all the exams are located, as well as access to reference materials. Partners profile is created in Google account. If for some reason you don’t have one yet, then it’s time to create Gmail. In addition to Partners, a Google account offers many more opportunities for your business. For example, you can add a site to the Google Search Console.
You need to specify a real name and last name, as well as set your real photo. This data is used in all services connected to your account, including in Partners. The name on your certificate will be what you specify in your Google account settings. So I recommend using real data.
After setting up your Google Account, you can go to the Partners page -www.google.com/partners/
On the new landing page, go to the tab Become a Google partner and click the big green button Join.
Register with the service, fill in the fields in the Partners profile and, if you wish, associate your personal profile with the profile of your agency (if it exists). This will help the agency get a Google partner badge and show it to its customers. We’ll talk about the Google Partner icon in one of the following articles.
Google AdWords Exam preparation
Now go directly to the exams. To get an AdWords certificate, you need to pass two exams: the basics of AdWords and the exam in one of the specializations to choose from:
- Search advertising;
- Display Network advertising;
- video ads;
- mobile advertising;
- product ads.
Each of these exams will give you a certificate of its own specialization. You can get several certificates at once if you specialize not only in one type of advertising.
I advise you to prepare before submitting, even if you are a professional in AdWords. The fact is that this exam is similar to passing the test to the traffic police after the loss of rights. Even if you have 10 years of driving experience, you can fail the test, because you will intuitively respond as you would in real life, and not as written in the SDA. ? With AdWords, roughly the same story.
Go to the AdWords page and choose your first exam — AdWords basics.
And on the page that opens, you will see the current status of your exam, as well as access to reference materials at the bottom of the page.
I recommend studying all 4 modules. However, if you have no experience in working with AdWords and you have never seen the interface of the system, this manual will seem like a Chinese script, although it is designed for beginners. In this case, I recommend to google additional materials, lessons, or sign up for courses on contextual advertising.
Google AdWords Exams
You will have 120 minutes, 100 questions and a passing score – 80% of the correct answers. If you do not have time to correctly answer 80 questions before the timer expires, the exam is not passed. If you give less than 80 correct answers, even having complied with the time – the exam is not passed.
Each question has 4 possible answers. Most questions are very simple and do not even require special knowledge in AdWords, it’s enough just to think logically. But there are also tricky questions, and even with semantic errors when translating into Russian (if you are fluent in English, better hand over it), the answers to which are confused even by a pro. But such questions come across not so much.
Here is an example of the question and answer options:
After clicking the Send Reply button, you will not have the opportunity to return and change the answer. Skipping questions to return to them later is also not allowed.
When you feel that you are ready for the exam – press the big blue button to pass the exam.
If you fail to pass the first time – do not worry! The opportunity to retake will appear in 7 days. If the second time, something goes wrong – again after 7 days. Previously, the exam was paid and cost, if I’m not mistaken, $ 50. Regardless of the outcome. For each retake. That would really hurt. But now it’s free.
Congratulations, you have passed the AdWords Basis Exam. But you have not received a certificate yet. Now you need to prepare for the second exam. Choose reference materials for your specialization. I rented search advertising.
Similarly, study the manuals. The second exam will be more difficult, there will be more specifics, and not general questions, as in the first exam. The reference material here is also more voluminous. In all other respects, this exam is identical to the first.
An important point:
The exam is taken not once and for all. The exam (and certificate) is 1 year. If you pass the AdWords basics on May 1, and the basics of search advertising on June 1, then on June 1 you will receive a certificate that will be valid until the first exam expires, i.e. until May 1. So try not to make big pauses between exams.
Congratulations, you have passed the search advertising exam and now you have a certificate! You can add it to your portfolio, print it, add it to the site, attach it to a commercial offer, etc. In order for clients to see your certificate, you need to open public access to your page in Partners. This can be done in the profile settings.
Bonus video exam in just 39 minutes. But you do not hurry, the time margin is 2 hours. It took me over an hour. ?
That’s all. Future plans for obtaining a certificate for Google Analytics, for which I will also do a detailed post. Good luck to everyone and subscribe to blog updates.
